Killarney’s Ultimate High Peaks Challenge is organised and run by mountain enthusiasts FOR mountain enthusiasts. Piaras and Catherine Kelly of KerryClimbing.ie, are both extremely active mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts. With a vast knowledge of the Kerry Mountains and surrounds they bring an exceptional amount of skills and experience in the organising of this unique event.
KerryClimbing are one of the leading guiding and mountain adventure activity providers in the South West with a vast & extensive experience and knowledge of running safety and rescue back up for a wide variety of mountain events.
They have a deep love of the Reeks and surrounds. Piaras is a highly experienced mountaineer and climber and spent many years as an instructor with a cliff and coastal rescue unit of the Irish Coastguard and is currently a member and training officer with the volunteer Kerry Mountain Rescue team. He is a walking, scrambling and rock-climbing guide and has been climbing these mountains for well over 20 years. He treks and climbs in all seasons in the Himalayas, Europe, Britain and Ireland.
Catherine is also a keen and avid mountaineer as well as being a Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA) instructor for many years. They live with their two children, Orlaith and Tiernan in the shadow of the Reeks.
